A discussion was held at the Ministry of Agriculture

A discussion was held at the Ministry of Agriculture today on increasing local dairy production.

Minister of State D. B. Officers of the State Ministry leading Mr. Herath, President of Milko Company, Provincial Directors of the Department of Health and Animal Products joined together.

Discussed here many practical issues that exist to increase local dairy production. It has been revealed here that two liters of liquid milk is currently obtained from one milk cow. We discussed the plan to increase that size to 5 litres.

I advised here to select 1000 farmers with 5 dairy cows under the first phase and provide them with all the facilities they need.
The concerned officials were also informed to increase the production of animal food by planting belly in non-weed lands.

Here I advised the provincial directors to run a special program using young personnel for the production of grass for dairy cows and provide all the facilities needed for the young community and to get the support including the necessary equipment through the Small Scale Agricultural Participation Program (SAPP) We have been informed.

I also advised to start grass farming projects in the lands that were not used by the People’s Estate Development Board and the lands that were not grown in Haragama farms and take steps to sell those products to the Milko company.
Decided here to select a group of young girls from the Multi-Purpose Employment Lakshya Program, give them Animal Control Assistant posts and contribute to the program to increase local dairy production.

In this way, I decided to solve and provide future solutions to many problems that are going to self-sufficient the country with local dairy production and also to report their progress by working within the targeted programme.
Let’s rise together… Get to work.. Let’s build a country full of water…
